Continue from DAY 1 in Jejudo
~♥DAY TWO♥~
::19th April 2014::
Hallabong is the famous Korean tangerine named after Hallasan from Jejudo but the one that Goo Yong Shik is holding is Gamgyul and the difference is the funky looking Hallabong (Han-Ra-Bong in Korean) has a protruding large bump that represents Hallasan, the large dormant volcano at the center of Jejudo which is the highest peak in South Korea. Somehow the beautiful coastal of Jejudo reminds me very much of Kaikoura in the South Island of New Zealand & some part of Oahu & Maui Island in Hawaii^^
The interior of our Hanok is all built by natural wood so the imperfection of design leaves a natural feeling of the wood. This is a little window that leads to another section of the Hanok^^
Here is where we sit down to wear our shoes and boots which were stored in the shoes locker which comes with a key so we can lock our stuffs inside^^
This is the reception booth where our friendly and helpful Bae Yong Jun looking hunk "Hanok Chaebol" who speaks English fluently sat during his working hours^^…ㅋㅋㅋ
This is the brochures shelf just opposite the reception booth filled lots of information about Jejudo^^
This antique wooden chest which is at the tiny lobby has a brass spoon replaced as its lock^^…just outside the dining area so it make sense huh?…mogok mogok (eat) time…ㅎㅎㅎ
Here is the TV area where guests can relax and watch TV and surf the internet on their 2 Samsung laptops but this babo don't know how to use the screen which is absolutely in Hangul…(>.<)!
My Onni's face expression on the orange to Goo Yong Shik each time she need to bathe~ㅎㅎㅎ
This quaint naturally carved wooden door from our unit leads to the backyard where there is another house unit which is surrounded by some Hallabong bushes^^ I bought half a dozen of Hallabongs for us to enjoy and saved this last one which traveled with me all the way to Busan…ㅎㅎㅎ I saw some Hallabong which were specially grown into a heart shaped by some local farmers when we were passing by some orchard^^ Maybe I should throw some heart shaped hallabongs next Chinese New Year Chap Goh Meh towards Buyeo…ㅎㅎㅎ
The inside of the hanok has a heated flooring called Ondol and I have slept on them in my previous trips to Korea. It's exactly how Kim Seung Yoo slept on the bedspread mattress with quilts^^ It can get pretty warm so either we sleep with the air cond on or kept our windows open. At night, I would just roll out my bedspread mattress like a sleeping bag…ㅎㅎ missing my Buyeo Jagiya and drift into slumberland dreaming of Kim Seung Yoo^^…ㅎㅎ It really gives me the feeling of TPM in making! ㅎㅎ
My TPM dressing table which is so dainty and cute!…OMO OMO…this Princess Mei must rise early and dress up for another beautiful day in Jejudo^^…ㅎㅎㅎ
We were staying in these traditional hanoks which is very cosy and cute^^
That's my Clara Onni's Hanok which she missed so much…ㅠ ㅠ ㅠ
This is my Hanok, just next to hers…! It simply makes me think Kim Seung Yoo so I hardly could sleep well every night and the last night, I wrote to my Buyeo Jagiya past 3am…ㅋㅋㅋ
This is the dining area and here is where we eat our daily breakfast and titbits while enjoying the Korean drama "Angel Eyes" which was airing then^^
After our hearty breakfast, our friendly driver ajosshi reccommended by the kind Hanok Chaebol made a plan with me and we decided to tour the East coast today but the weather is wet with rain according to him, unfortunately. The 1st stop is Jeongbang Waterfall just about 10 minutes drive from our Hanok^^ There is a small entrance fee. It takes quite a while trekking down the stairs to catch the view of the waterfall which flows to the ocean. There are some halmoni selling fresh raw abalone, sea cucumber, sea potato and blanched sliced octopus at the side of the waterfall^^
It was a great experience to enjoy the fresh haemul (seafood) with a bottle of soju while enjoying the view of the waterfall and ocean as the sea breeze danced around our faces ~what a sumptuous brunch!^^
As it was still drizzling and the weather was cold, wet and windy, we couldn't visit the famous Korean drama "Iris" filming location , the lighthouse at Seopjikoji so I just wind down the car's window and got a photo of it. It looks picturique from a far distance with a misty backdrop. I'll just leave it to my next trip coz if I completed every destination, there will be nothing left to explore for my future trip back in Jejudo^^
Next our ajosshi drove us to the Jejudo's Seung Eup folk village where I've been 10 years ago on a tour from Malaysia and this is part of the olden days kitchen which has an interesting story^^ The ironic part of it is the tourist guide who narrated the story to us is not a Jejudo native nor a Korean but a China man from China Mainland who can speak Mandarin as well as Korean^^ Jejudo is an island of sky and sea also called as Samda~do as its famous for its 3 abundance of :: rocks, wind and women, and as Sammoo~do for its 3 shortages of :: thieves, beggar and gates infront of houses.^^
Unfortunately I didn't manage to take more photos as it started to pour like cats and dogs and we ran to our car to avoid the raindrops bouncing on our heads…(>.<;)
As the rain pours, our chance to see the cherry blossoms was getting harder so after sometime, I asked ajosshi if there is any place good for seafood nearby and he drove us to this restaurant along the coastline. When we entered the restaurant, my eyes caught on some delicious looking Gejang (marinated raw crabs) so I ordered some and a few special house dishes from their menu. Most local Korean restaurants usually serve just 2~3 of their most famous speciality dishes rather than several pages of menu back in Malaysia. Looking at them now makes me salivate again….aigooOO…ㅎㅎㅎ
The restaurant's banchan^^
This taste like aged kimchi to me…it was superb! *yums*
Their haemultang seafood kimchi stew was full of seafood!^^
Our favourite Saeng galchi jjigae (hairtail fish stew) *YUMS* Can you see it "cooking" from your pc screen and smell it?…woOOO…ㅎㅎ
ㅎㅎㅎㅎ
We had a bottle of makgeolli (rice wine) and this is a different version. It helps us to warm up on a rainy day with all the spicy food^^
After a hearty meal, we continue our journey to Seopjikoji where another famous film location for Korean dramas like "All In" where the church is! On the way, we saw lots of "stacking wishing volcano rocks" so we asked our ajosshi to make a stop and everyone started to stack their own wishing stones and of coz, mine is for my Buyeo Jagiya^^
My wishing stones for my Sihoo Oppa~^^~ ♥
These wishing stones are glued together for tourist attraction purpose^^
Finally, we reached our destination when it started to drizzle and the wind was getting strong & bolder…tearing at our scarves and caps^^…like trying to undress us one by one….ㅎㅎㅎ…I didn't know the wind blowing in Jejudo can be this naughty!!!^^…ㅎㅎㅎ~~~
On our way down to the carpark area, we saw some of these cuttlefish and bought one piece for KRW3000 (USD3) to try. It was chewy and tender! *YUMS*
Back at our Hanok car park area, we saw these beautiful pine trees which I only saw in Korea so far. I haven't come across this species apart from those in New Zealand, Canada, Australia, China and USA. They are so pretty on their own, we wish we could bring one home for this Christmas for decoration…ㅎㅎㅎ
Jejudo famous hallabong bush and rapeseed flowers around our Hanok^^
Here is my "garland" of Sihoo Oppa's name made from rapeseed flower^^
Next to DAY 3…
